The sky glows pink and white through the trees as we begin our hike. I’m slow at first, as it takes me a while in the morning to get my legs warmed up. My heel hurts after yesterday’s fast walking. Heel striking, Rafiki said.

We’re only a couple miles in when we stop for water by a small lake. The pointy trees reflect in the water. A bird skids a landing on the still lake, leaving a white capped path in his stead. He flies off and returns, reminding me of my brother as a ten year old, running along wooden floors of the house and stopping suddenly so he could slide across the floor on socked feet.

I walk fast for the next few miles. What’s next for me is on my mind. I don’t know what will come next, but I’ve got a few ideas rolling around in my head.
They’re different ideas than before, too. There are so many opportunities in life.
I break and the others catch up. We soon have lunch on the lake. I’m so tired I could fall asleep right here!
I walk through a golden field that smells of sweet hay. Soon the mountains are in view. Getting closer to Washington with every step!

My legs hurt. They feel all sore and overstretched. I hope I sleep well tonight. Last night I didn’t sleep the best because my legs were so achey.

We reach a waterfall they crashes into moss covered rock. The creek right after is where we fill up on water.

Soon, we’re hiking up hills to get to camp. I misread a note and thought we’d be camping .4 miles from the Obsidian border. Nope. 1.4 miles!!
Aw man!
Obsidian is a type of black and shiny and sharp volcanic rock.

The sky is gray. I walk through a row of what looks like Christmas trees. Trees are fallen as I walk along the trail. They’re piled up on one another too!

We finally get to camp. Whoof! That was a lot of miles to walk! I fall into bed and let my air mattress consume my achey body.
Good night, friends!
