Sunday, day 72, I spend the majority of the day to do some chores. Laundry, shopping — which I got a ninja town outfit that matches Luxy’s town clothes perfectly — and some soaking in the hot tub. I FaceTime my niece and nephew, and learn my niece has been working on her canon balls.

“And guess what?” she says. “I’ve been swimming underwater.” Her eyes are squinted as she nods her head at the very cool activity she’s been partaking in.

We make burritos for dinner — something I’ve been craving for a long time — and Sam wants to show Dad and I a very well written anime called Attack on Titans.

We watch the first episode about man eating giants that break into a community.

“If you want to watch it, now you know what it’s about!”

I keep trying to watch anime, but it’s not really for me. I appreciate the art, though!

Day 73 begins with a cup of coffee and me rushing to do all of my chores. I haven’t done many of them, so I call my grandmother as I pack my bear can.

Later, I go the corner store for some smart water bottles for my new filter. I had Rafiki and Luxy grab me a new mattress pad and platypus water filter the other day, and I need the one liter smart water bottles for that.

“What you looking for, honey?” the store clerk asks after I’ve roamed around the little store three times.

“One liter smart water bottles and hand sanitizer?” I say.

“Oh,” she says disappointedly,” Tahoe no longer sells drinking water bottles under a liter!”

And no hand sanitizer either.

Sam dropped me off at the store, so I walk back in the rain. I guess I’ll be using the BeFree for another week.

Sam is home right on time! I say goodbye to Dad and head out.

Soon we’re at Harrah’s Hotel.

It’s raining now, so we all sit in the trunk with our pack in our laps.

There is a wall of packs in the back!

Sam drops us off. I hug him goodbye and we’re off! Immediately, Luxy’s phone falls to the ground!

“Oh no!” she says!

Her phone is cracked at the corner. She just got her case replaced, too!

“It cracked the actual screen!” she says.

Oh no!

We continue on the trail.

We walk near a beautiful lake. I don’t have to wear sunglasses at all because it’s so gray outside.

After a few miles, we pause under some trees after a big incline.

We continue on until we get to a lake to water. We’re all out of water by the time we get to the lake! We’re stopped by a guy named Hong who is leading a high school backpacking trip from Texas!

We were supposed to hike a few more miles, but it’s so beautiful here that we decide to stay. Plus, we’re tired.

We settle down for the night. As I’m teaching Rafiki how to make Mac and cheese, it begins to rain. We all jump in tents.

Not fifteen minutes of rain, lightening and thunder, my tent is flooding! When I set my mushy Mac n cheese down, my hand touches the ground. Everything is wet! I urgently use a cloth to get water out. There are puddles of water in the tent and it feels like I’m on a water bed.

It continues like this for a while.

Finally the rain settles.

Luxy is laughing loudly. She thought her tent was in a big puddle! I’m in a pond! My shoes are literally floating!

I hop in another tent for the night and move my stuff.

The sky grows pink. There’s a bright pink rainbow in the sky. It reflects on the water. The other side of the sky is bright pink all around.

This is the most beautiful sky I’ve seen on trail!
